Ted Nugent Signs a SkinYourSkunk.com Guitar!

Well…kinda.

Skinny did a custom guitar skin for this customer…a Ted Nugent, Weekend Warriors album cover design including a guitar skin for the body, and a headstock skin for…well…the headstock.  The guitar came out amazing!

But what is also very cool is that Ted Nugent himself, signed the pickguard that was attached to the final guitar design.  Here are the pictures.

Halloween is Coming – SkinYourSkunk.com

It is the end of August and you all know what that means.  Halloween is just around the corner of the calendar and it is time to prepare for the most exciting holiday of the year.  Yes, yes…Halloween is Skinny’s favorite holiday and we will be celebrating over at SkinYourSkunk.com for the full two months leading up to October 31st, 2013.

So how does a psychedelic skunk celebrate All Hallow’s Eve?  You guessed it…by adding scary, creepy and horrifying new Guitar Skins and Wraps to our collection.  Sure we have always had a nice little collection of the terrible, but we are bulking up with such new categories as Skull Guitar Skins, Halloween Guitar Skins and Killer Guitar Skins.  In fact…our Skull Guitar Skins collection has already been posted under our Dark and Evil Skins menu.

To off the wall, in your face graphics.  You are sure to find something just perfect for your guitar!

When I started SkinYourSkunk.com back in January of 2013, the idea was to allow players to alter the style of their guitars in a big way, but to allow the alteration to be changed or removed.  Our marine grade, premium vinyl guitar skins are easy to put on, easy to take off and can even be switched.

Ugly guitars become beautiful and plain guitars can become shocking!  Even your expensive guitar with touches of road-rash can be brought back to glory with a skin that fits your mood…or the attitude of your music.

Recently, SkinYourSkunk.com has topped 500 different guitar skin designs, all available from our website and separated into categories to help you find the perfect graphic.  But what has really taken off is our custom designed skins service.

We have done a few Ted Nugent guitar skins, business logos and graphics, colorful abstracts and some really unique designs.  Our customers often provide us with an image and ask “can you do this?”.  The answer is always a resounding YES!  And we get requests for completely custom designs where our graphic designers create skins from scratch.  We work with our customers via email sending ideas back and forth until we get the design perfect.  Our customers approve the actual graphic that goes to print in full size and color and then we ship the skin in a hard cardboard tube with tracking via USPS.  Everyone seems to love and appreciate our process and being a big part of the design.

So check out our site at SkinYourSkunk.com, check out our Customer Guitar Gallery and when you are ready…skin YOUR skunk!

All About SkinYourSkunk.com Guitar Skins and Wraps

I’ve been playing guitar professionally, on and off, for about thirty five years.  I’ve been in many bands, recorded many albums worth of material and have a deep love for guitars.  Recently, I opened a Guitar Skin website named SkinYourSkunk.com where we sell vinyl, printed Guitar Skins.  You see…I’ve always loved flashy, cool and original guitar designs, paint jobs and all.  But the problem with this passion is a combination of money and quality.

Unless you are willing to pay thousands of dollars for a truly customized, quality guitar…your choices are mostly limited to low quality instruments.  If you can squeeze out the money for something amazing, chances are you are stuck with that instrument for many, many years.  And if you purchase a quality guitar and decide to customize it…you could end up with a good guitar being ruined.

“I’ve always loved unique guitars!”

This is where Guitar Skins and Wraps come in.  The promise is that you can apply these decals to your existing instrument and transform it into something amazing.  Usually, you can even remove your current skin and replace it with something new at will and without a high cost.  But the reality is different.  Most companies that sell Guitar Decals produce cheap, thin, stickers that basically suck.  They are not much different than a typical paper sticker and usually last about as long.

So…I worked personally with a local print shop owner and we designed a material that solved all that.  SkinYourSkunk.com uses a “marine grade”, premium vinyl that is quite thick.  It includes a clear laminate overlaid on the printed vinyl and a strong but removable adhesive backing.  Coupled with a high definition, high resolution color printing process (using $10,000.00 plus printers), we truly designed a great material that is long lasting, easy to install, sweat resistant and quite beautiful.

We decided early on that trying to manage die cutting our skins to the variety of instruments out there was insane.  My partner suggested that we might sell uncut skins instead…and the idea took off like crazy.  With how easy the material is to work with, it takes even a first timer less than an hour to apply their skin.  And this process gives the customer a sense of accomplishment while allowing them to adjust the skin for that 100% unique look.

I realized early on that SkinYourSkunk.com had to be something special also…meaning our website.  I came up with “Skinny”…our resident, obnoxious and weird little mascot.  I also decided on a quite insane visual design for the website that reflects my personality.  Finally…I knew that we had to offer many, many options for our customers.

“Skinny’s a strange little dude!”

As of today, SkinYourSkunk.com offers over 500 high quality designs split into categories.  From “Evil” to “Cute”, from “Dark” to “Beautiful”…there is something for everyone at SkinYourSkunk.com.  We even added the option of skinning your headstock for that complete look.

SkinYourSkunk.com also partners with sexy models, amazing photographers and graphic designers who provide images that we use on our skins.  Each provider gets a commission when their skin sells.  It works out great for everyone!

A little later we decided to add a Custom Guitar Skin design process.  We would take customer provided images, or hunt up an image for them and create a skin based upon their “vision”.  And as with out normal sales process, we size, position, rotate, etc. the design and provide the customer with a full size proof of the design prior to printing.  Often, we make minor adjustments to the layout and so far, our satisfaction rate is around 98%!  We are proud of that and will always put the customer first.

So if you have a “beater”, an ugly or old looking guitar, or if you are tired of your instrument’s look and just want to give the old girl a facelift…you can find what you want at SkinYourSkunk.com for a reasonable price, with great customer service and a hands-on approach toward making your guitar…something special.

Custom Steampunk Guitar Skin

So James was looking for a custom, Steampunk Guitar Skin.  He contacted us at SkinYourSkunk.com and we began work.  We went back and forth a few times and found the perfect image.  Skinny sized the body skin and the headstock skin to fit the SG.

While James is still finishing up his cool guitar, the skins are in place and look awesome.  SkinYourSkunk.com uses a special Marine Grade vinyl material for our skins that is very easy to install.  To quote James…”I must say I am blown away by the results!!!  There are a ton of contours on this body and the skin went on perfect.  No bubbles or wrinkles and I thought I would have to live with a few on the horns.  I have attached some pictures for you to check out.
