SkinYourSkunk.com is starting a new line of guitar skin designs called the Artist Series. Each new category will focus on one musician and we will create a series of skins that we think represent the artist. These will be what we would imagine the artist would create and endorse if they did a series of skins with us.
This all came about after I decided to do a few cool and funny posts of famous guitarists where using a graphic editing package, I skinned their guitars! The idea just kinda grew from there.
Now...none of these designs or categories are currently sponsored by the artist. They are simply our interpretation of what the artist might have us design. And since we are not using the picture, signature or logo of the artist in our designs, these don't pose a copyright issue.
OK...follow along. With each Artist Series of skins, we have a standing offer to the artist. They can contact us and we will gladly send them a FREE skin, they can decide to endorse our series of skins we created or they can decide to create a series of skins with us. If they decide to do so, 50% of all NET sales will be distributed to the artist or their chosen charity!
Our first Artist Series of skins are in the genre of Ted Nugent! I grew up with Ted’s albums playing loudly in the background and he remains a favorite of mine for his music, attitude and political views. Using that history, Skinny came up with these Ted Nugent inspired skins.

Take this customer for example. He owns a beautiful Stratocaster but wanted to make a custom skin expressing his being a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. And he had a specific idea in mind. He wanted a blue, rough wood background tinted in blue. And then wanted the Seahawks logo placed at the top left looking like it was painted on.
Skinny went to work and took some rough wood pictures, tinted them blue, added the Seahawks logo and even added the black burst around the edges. We went back and forth with the customer, sending him mock-ups until the design was perfect. We then printed the skin using our exclusive Miracle Vinyl with a clear glossy finish. The results…simply awesome!
To quote our customer, “It's been applied, and it KICKS ASS!! Excuse my French, I'm just so excited as to how it turned out! The dark edges blend in nicely with the original sides. A person really has to get up close to see that it's a vinyl skin. You have truly helped me make this my guitar. All of my Patriot fan friends will be jealous! Muahahaha”. Skinny was contacted over at SkinnyTheSkunk.com by a customer that has a problem with their guitar. It appears that this guy’s wife wasn’t too happy with a relationship he formed with a certain girl. While I would consider it a bit of an overreaction on the wife’s part…and a bit misguided…the result was the following.
So just to be clear…this “inscription” states “I cheated on my wife…I fucked Kammie”. As you can probably guess, this customer would like his beautiful, 2014 Gibson SG 60’s Tribute guitar restored to it’s original condition. Now personally…Skinny would simply clear coat over the “message” and proudly wield the axe on stage for the world to see…not everyone would share that view.
To add to the complications of this guitar skin, he would not only like to fix the finish, but add a picture of “Kammie” to the skin. Yes…you heard that right. Remove the text and replace it with a picture of the girl in question. The word “BALLS” comes to mind.
So…Skinny plans to document this process for everyone and we will start here with a few sample, mock-up images being provided to the customer.
And with this, we will see what our customer would like to do from here. Oh…VERY IMPORTANT! Skinny asked for permission from the customer prior to posting these pictures and he was happy to allow me to offer a description of the situation.
