Musicians We Lost In 2016

2016 was a hard year for celebrity deaths and musicians were at the top of the list. There were a number of talented musicians who we had to say goodbye to this past year and here is a list of some of those unforgettable people.

• George Michael - June 25, 1963 – December 25, 2016 - Member of Wham! He was best known for his work in the 80s & 90s, including hit singles such as "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Last Christmas."


• Matt Roberts - January 10, 1978 - August 20, 2016 - Member of 3 Doors Down from their 1996 formation until 2012. He was the co-writer of the song "Kryptonite."


• John Berry - May 31, 1963 - May 19, 2016 - Member of Beastie Boys (1981 – 1982), The Young Aborigines (1978 – 1981). Berry is credited with coming up with the name Beastie Boys when they were teenagers.


• Prince - June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016 - He was an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer.


• Aaron Huffman - 1972–2016 - Co-founder and bassist of Seattle alt rockers Harvey Danger.



• Paul Kantner - March 17, 1941 – January 28, 2016 - He was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, known for co-founding Jefferson Airplane, and it's more commercial spin-off band Jefferson Starship.



• Jimmy Bain - December 18, 1947 – January 23, 2016 - He was a Scottish musician, best known for playing bass guitar in the bands Rainbow and Dio.



• Glenn Frey - November 6, 1948 – January 18, 2016 - He was an American singer, songwriter and actor, best known as a founding member of the rock band Eagles.


• David Bowie - January 8, 1947 – January 10, 2016 - He was an English singer, songwriter and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades


These are only a few of the great musicians we lost in 2016. May they R.I.P.
